Oracle 11G XE Installation error: Database Configuration failed

Question

While running the oracle configuration after installation on linuxMint:

/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure the following error specified:

sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure

How Can I Fix It?

Also you must check that your hostname is in /etc/hosts linked to 127.0.0.1., e.g:

127.0.0.1   localhost

I've faced this problem for several times. I'm running XE on guest openSUSE and initially my hostname has digits and dashes in it's name. And if I change it (/etc/HOSTNAME) to some simple name BEFORE 11g XE install the configuring will complete successfully.

I don't know how hostname affect on oracle installation but the method above works for me like a charm.
