Change class when collapse is active

How can I change the class of the active collapse?

Example: change from panel-default to panel-danger

<div class="panel-group" id="accordion">
  <div class="panel panel-default">
    <div class="panel-heading">
      <h4 class="panel-title">
        <a data-toggle="collapse" data-parent="#accordion" href="#collapseOne">
          Collapsible Group Item #1
        </a>
      </h4>
    </div>
    <div id="collapseOne" class="panel-collapse collapse in">
      <div class="panel-body">
        Anim pariatur cliche reprehenderit, enim eiusmod high life accusamus terry richardson ad squid. 3 wolf moon officia aute, non cupidatat skateboard dolor brunch. </div>
    </div>
  </div>
  <div class="panel panel-default">
    <div class="panel-heading">
      <h4 class="panel-title">
        <a data-toggle="collapse" data-parent="#accordion" href="#collapseTwo">
          Collapsible Group Item #2
        </a>
      </h4>
    </div>
    <div id="collapseTwo" class="panel-collapse collapse">
      <div class="panel-body">

      </h4>
    </div>
    <div id="collapseThree" class="panel-collapse collapse">
      <div class="panel-body">
        Anim pariatur cliche reprehenderit, enim eiusmod high life accusamus terry richardson ad squid. 3 wolf moon officia aute, non cupidatat skateboard dolor brunch. </div>
    </div>

You can use the shown.bs.collapse and hidden.bs.collapse events:

shown.bs.collapse - This event is fired when a collapse element has been made visible to the user (will wait for CSS transitions to complete).

and

hidden.bs.collapse - This event is fired when a collapse element has been hidden from the user (will wait for CSS transitions to complete).

to add and remove your additional class, when the page start you can check the opened page and set a class on it.

Code:

$('#accordion').find('.panel-default:has(".in")').addClass('panel-danger');

$('#accordion').on('shown.bs.collapse', function (e) {
   $(e.target).closest('.panel-default').addClass(' panel-danger');
}).on('hidden.bs.collapse', function (e) {
   $(e.target).closest('.panel-default').removeClass(' panel-danger');
})
