Can't install curl gem

Hi everyone I'm trying to install curl gem on my Linux mint 14 but I have the following error output in the console:

Building native extensions.  This could take a while...
ERROR:  Error installing curb:
    ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.

Results logged to /home/mateusz/.rvm/gems/ruby-2.0.0-p0@rails4/gems/curb-0.8.6/ext/gem_make.out

I can't find solution for this problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

While this was answered in 2014, the answer changes as these libraries are constantly being updated. To find the most up to date answer, see Curb's README which now includes this information in the install instructions.

At time of writing, it states that the dependencies can be satisfied by installing the following packages:

Ubuntu 18.04 and onwards

$ sudo apt-get install libcurl4 libcurl3-gnutls libcurl4-openssl-dev

Ubuntu < 18.04

$ sudo apt-get install libcurl3 libcurl3-gnutls libcurl4-openssl-dev

RedHat:

$ sudo yum install ruby-devel libcurl-devel openssl-devel

Install libcurl4-gnutls-dev and libcurl3-dev packages:

sudo apt-get install libcurl4-gnutls-dev libcurl3-dev

Then try to insstall curl gem again

gem install curl

If you're on linux, install libcurl3-dev library:

apt-get install libcurl3-dev
