'Unable to lookup JNDI name' in Hibernate 4.3.6 with Tomcat 8

Question

I am using Spring 4.1.1 and am trying to setup Hibernate. This is my @Configuration class:

I have a data source declared in context.xml file of Tomcat 8:

The strange thing about this error is that Spring doesn't have problems with the JNDI lookup I have inserted in one of my xml beans definition file:

<jee:jndi-lookup jndi-name="jdbcConnector" id="dataSource"
    expected-type="javax.sql.DataSource" />

I had the same issue but this was resolved by upgrading hibernate-core to 4.3.6.Final.
