Minitest Issues Ruby on Rails

Question

I'm reading the Ruby on Rails Tutorial by Michael Hartl and following along. I'm having problems however right when trying to do some testing.

/media/Data.II/Dropbox/Web Development/odin-project/3. Ruby on Rails/twitter-clone/db/schema.rb doesn't exist yet. Run `rake db:migrate` to create it, then try again. I run rake db:migrate (even thought I haven't yet created any migration) and now the error is the following:

You're using the guard-minitest gem, please see the first line of the Install section of its README

Namely:

Please be sure to have Guard installed before you continue.

Try this, to remove guard temporarily: edit your Gemfile and comment out the guard line:

# gem 'mini_backtrace'

Try this, to sync the test database:

bundle exec rake db:test:prepare

Try this, to verify that you can connect to the development database:

bundle exec rake db

Try this, to verify that you can connect to the test database:

RAILS_ENV=test bundle exec rake db

If the steps all succeed, then here's how to fix guard:

  gem 'guard' # NOTE: this is necessary in newer versions
  gem 'guard-minitest' 
end

Then run:

bundle
guard init minitest
