Grunt usemin + filerev not replacing an image tag with the rev'ed version

Question

I'm newer to grunt and I started with the yeoman generator-angular and restructure my project and now i'm trying to get the grunt build to play nice again.

Here's the output of my grunt build

and I have this html tag in one of my views:

<img src="img/logo.png" alt="logo" />

but it doesn't work after grunt build because it doesn't get replaced with the rev'ed version. Do i need to add those usemin comment blocks around this somehow do I need to update my gruntfile to handle this?

I was facing a similar problem until I realised that my usemin config was slightly wrong. The current config only checks for html files 1 level deep meaning that if you have views/folder/file.html it will never be updated. Instead, change your config to use the 0 or more glob, **.

The tasks that take care for the rev are filerev and usemin.

So try to run the following commands:

grunt filerev
grunt usemin

In particular if you run grunt filerev in according to your Gruntfile.js will go to rename the files you specified in filerev:dist:src

Assuming that yeoman.dist is the folder dist it will take care of all the images in dist/img/*.[png|jpg|jpeg|gif|webp|svg] . So you should see the logo.png to logo.23489089023.png happening.

For update the img html tag you have to use grunt usemin.
For this task you don't need any special block (documentation).
You have just to setup usemin:html and usemin:options:assetsDirs.

But again in your Gruntfile.js you have :

Which is good actually because is going to replace in all the html and css files in the dist folder all the rev'd assets.
