I follow the mongodb website tried to install on my machine centos 6.5 + nginx,
after below step when I run service mongod start
shows Starting mongod [FAILED]
vi /etc/yum.repos.d/mongodb-org-3.0.repo
yum install mongodb-org

Bringing this back from the dead a bit.
The user which runs mongod needs permission to the /tmp directory. To avoid this, there's a config setting you can apply which changes where the mongodb-.sock file is created. The user already has access to their home folder, so this worked for me.

Try deleting this file : /tmp/mongodb-27017.sock
After that just restart service :)
