PHP SOAP version mismatch (wrong version)

Question

I am working on implementation of Royal Mail to our system. I would like to use their API, but I have no luck with it. I am still getting error:

[faultstring] => Wrong Version [faultcode] => VersionMismatch [faultcodens] => http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/ 

I already tried SOAP version 1.2 but I am sure they use SOAP 1.1. Here is WSDL:

in my code I used old version like this :

then when I change to this, solve that :

$sms_client = new SoapClient($this->wsdl, array('encoding'=>'UTF-8'));

I've been having the same problem with a buyer of my OpenCart extension. Strange thing was that they are at the same version of OpenCart as multiple other users, including my demo site. After lots (and lots) of digging, I narrowed my problem down to a PHP bug that was fixed in 5.3.11.

Basically, the stream_context part of the http header is being ignored, and that contains the client ID and secret.

Contained within is a workaround:

From this, I created the following fix:

that I add before I set the stream_context option. This was taken from this answer on PHP and Royal Mail Tracking API.

Though it looks like you are not yet setting stream_context (as $mode only has soap_version, trace and exceptions), but hopefully the PHP version bug explains the "VersionMismatch" / "Wrong Version" error.
