This code will count the number of equal lists in your list.

Your code splits the original string into groups of 2 consecutive characters.
If you want to check if those 2 consecutive characters are equal, you can do:
char[] chars = s.toCharArray();
int count = 0;
for(int i = 0 ; i < chars.length - 1 ; i += 2) {
count += chars[i] == chars[i+1] ? 1 : 0;
}
