I am trying to using mpi4py with python3.5 I have installed openMPI, and then the mpi4py module, on Ubuntu 16.04.
I get the following error when I try and import mpi4py:

It looks like opal_init failed for some reason; your parallel process is
likely to abort. There are many reasons that a parallel process can
fail during opal_init; some of which are due to configuration or
environment problems. This failure appears to be an internal failure;
here's some additional information (which may only be relevant to an
Open MPI developer):

How can I resolve this?

I solved this by doing the following:
Remove existing installs:
sudo apt-get remove openmpi-bin
sudo apt-get remove python3-mpi4py
Reinstall
sudo apt-get install libopenmpi-dev
sudo pip3 install mpi4py
sudo apt install openmpi-bin
