How can I capture the value from a System.Windows.Forms.TextBox?

I found an article about input box, but it's not working. I'm just coping code from an example online to PowerShell ISE. I start it and the variable stays empty after filling an input box and clicking OK/hitting enter.

What could be wrong?

The code is:

After execution $x is still 1. It doesn't matter what I input.

Use $global:x to access the variable within the event handler:

Slight change for what you want to achieve. Even if you write something in the text box and then click cancel it will NOT show any value. Try this code-
