I use retrofit in conjunction with rxJava2 in my new Andriod project. I have limited experience with rxJava 1.
My question would be: Is there a better way to write this? I may be wrong but this just doesn´t look very rxish to my untrained eyes:

At least, you should put all of of your if/else logic into appropriate methods, e.g. this:
.map(response -> {
if(response.code() == 200){
return Response.success(response.body().getProviders()
,response.raw());
} else {
return Response.<List<ProviderVO>>error(response.code()
,response.errorBody());
}})
you can re-write like:
.map(this::handleResponse)
where handleResponse
is:
private ResponseState handleResponse(Response response) {
if(response.code() == 200){
return Response.success(response.body().getProviders()
,response.raw());
} else {
return Response.error(response.code()
,response.errorBody());
}
}
Here, ResponseState
is some class that have a flag if the response was successful or not.
In addition, you could write an additional method for such cases:
