Expire headers aren't working via .htaccess?

Question

I currently am working on a testing environment on Digital Ocean and noticed that whatever I tried/changed to the .htaccess in terms of caching header, it simply doesn't seem to function.

My current caching is done via W3 Total Cache but that also doesn't seem to work, here's the current Htaccess file:

So for some reason I can't seem to set it, I've actually never experienced this kind of problem but I've also never worked with this webhost yet.

Does anyone know anything that could be the cause for this problem?

Okay so it seems apache lacked some basic modules being:

• expires
• headers
• ext_filter

So I've had to install them by using:

sudo a2enmod expires
sudo a2enmod headers
sudo a2enmod ext_filter

To be honest I was a bit too skeptical thinking they had it pre-installed. But well I'm actually glad it was only such a small thing and not a bigger problem!
