I have a class as follows:

but while running webpack it is giving following error:
Property 'emit' does not exist on type 'People'
As of my understanding since I'm inheriting from EventEmitter it should have emit property
Note: given code was working perfectly fine with angular 2
where EventEmitter is a ts module in events library.

npm event module has several issues with typescript-2 e.g. no index.d.ts present (as mentioned by @estus).
So following is a equivalent typescript class of eventJS which is working fine with my code
