mime_content_type() does not recognize MKV on PHP 7 but on PHP 5.6 it does

I am trying to get all files where mime_content_type is a video. but i have problems detecting the mime_content_type of the type MKV while using PHP 7.1.8. But when i am using PHP 5.6 Every file is recognized just fine. I tried checking mime.types but it seems the same.

PHP 7 gives me the following error: ( ! ) Warning: mime_content_type(): Failed identify data 0:(null)

Did they change the mime library?

What about a custom function ? try to declare this function and use it
