Error trying to run PHPUnit Magento 2 test

I created a simple hello world Magento 2 test, when I try to run the test I get the following error:

Fatal error: Declaration of Magento\Framework\TestFramework\Unit\Listener\ReplaceObjectManager::startTest(PHPUnit\Framework\Test $test) must be compatible with PHPUnit_Framework_TestListener::startTest(PHPUnit_Framework_Test $test) in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/mag221/vendor/magento/framework/TestFramework/Unit/Listener/ReplaceObjectManager.php on line 14

This is the phpunit.xml.dist

I'm using PHP 7.1.12, Magento 2.2.1.

Any idea what might be causing this?

First of all create HelloMessage class \app\code\TestStore\Hello\Model\HelloMessage.php

Create UnitTest Model \app\code\TestStore\Hello\Test\Unit\Model\HelloMessageTest.php

use TestStore\Hello\Model\HelloMessage;

class HelloMessageTest extends \PHPUnit_Framework_TestCase
{
    /**
     * @var HelloMessage
     */
    protected $helloMessage;

    public function setUp()
    {
        $objectManager = new \Magento\Framework\TestFramework\Unit\Helper\ObjectManager($this);
        $this->helloMessage = $objectManager->getObject('TestStore\Hello\Model\HelloMessage');
        $this->expectedMessage = 'Hello Magento 2! We will change the world!';
    }

    public function testGetMessage()
    {
         $this->assertEquals($this->expectedMessage, $this->helloMessage->getMessage());
    }
}

Now, you have to add UnitTest in phpunit.xml by

<testsuite name="Magento Unit Tests">
    <directory suffix="Test.php">../../../app/code/TestStore/Hello/Test/Unit</directory>
</testsuite>

then simply run the Unit test from the console under magento folder
