If I have an assertAll
statement in my JUnit 5 java test, and it contains say a dozen assertions, when ONE of these fails, it doesn't give me any sort of line numbers, and trying to figure out exactly which one failed can be a cumbersome task (particularly if they are similar assertions, e.g. all checking strings or doubles).
So I'm wondering how other people are finding this and how do you pinpoint errors quickly (like you can if you had multiple single assertions and one of them failed).
Here is an example my stack trace which I don't find helpful in figuring out which assertion failed. It appears to only point me to line 63 which is the beginning of the assertAll() statement, and nothing else.

The assertion error message contains the information you're looking for. See this example for assertAll
:

I can see that output in Maven and IntelliJ. Maybe the tool you're using swallows the exception message?

Since assertAll
collates all assertion failures from the given list of executables and finally throws a single AssertionFailedError
- there is no way it can provide stack trace entry for each of the failure. The easy way to differentiate is by the message passed to the assertions.
