ng generate component "cannot read property 'replace' of undefined"

I'm trying to generate a component in a brand new Angular app generated with @angular/cli version 6.2.5. The command ng generate component throws the following error :

Cannot read property 'replace' of undefined

(nothing more than that)

The same thing happens with every ng generate SOMETHING

I'm using node 9.4.0 (it doesn't work either with v8, v10)

Does anyone know how to solve this?

I believe you need to name your component while creating it. e.g. ng generate component testComponenet Hope it helps!
