java.lang.RuntimeException: Can't start redis server. Check logs for details

I am using Redis server of Windows version 3.2.x (MSOpenTech Redis 3.2 Release Notes). I am developing Spring Boot + Spring Data Redis example and I am continuously getting the below error.

In this case I always need to restart my machine. Is there any solution? I don't have admin rights on my machine, so machine reboot is the only option.

I had the same problem, the port i wanted to use for running Redis was already in use, you just need to shut it down using cmd

netstat -ano | findstr :REDIS.PORT

taskkill /PID RUNNING.PID /F

Try set the maxheap

For the Redis command-line:

# Set the maxheap for Redis
redis-server --maxheap 128m

For Java using RedisServer.builder():

RedisServer.builder()

I faced this error in Mac OS Sonoma, For me, the error is resolved by changing dependency to

<groupId>com.github.codemonstur</groupId>
<artifactId>embedded-redis</artifactId>
<version>1.2.0</version>

and by instantiating the Redis instance with the below works

RedisServer.newRedisServer.port(redisPort).setting(s"bind ${redisHost}").build

For more details:

TLDR: com.github.codemonstur.embedded-redis is the forked version embedded-redis, which is recently updated to work on the Mac OS Sonoma

For me change of port didn't work out. so I opened task manager and then under details tab killed redis-server-0.7.2.exe process and it worked.

Stop any Redis services operating currently outside the IDE or change the embedded Redis port to a different port
