Python error while connecting to nntp server

You're using HTTP to connect to NNTP? Replace server = NNTP('http://www.news.readfreenews.net') with server = NNTP('news.readfreenews.net') or server = NNTP('www.news.readfreenews.net'), depending on which works fine.
