How can I get the value of a scrapy argument from pipelines.py?

I am newbie in scrapy. I found a scraper on github which scrapes emails from a website.

This spider works with an argument pass in command line:

scrapy crawl spider -a domain="example.com" -o emails-found.csv

This spider store the result on a csv file. I would like to store the result in my Mysql DB.

So I made some changes in the pipelines.py.

I work very hard this afternoon to try to get the value of this argument "domain". You can see my previous post here about this topic: How to Import a variable of my spider class from my pipelines.py file?

But I didn't succeed. The log told me :

AttributeError: type object 'ThoroughSpider' has no attribute ......

I tried with start_urls, domain and allowed_domains, but I always get this same log msg "...has no attributes...."

@gangabass kindly proposed a good idea : Yelding the domain in order to get it from pipelines.py.

But as I said, I am newbie and I have no idea how to do that.

I've already spend all my afternoon to find a solution without any success (please don't laugh, it is not so easy for me :-)). I am sure it is a simple easy stuff for experts.

Now I don't really care about the method how to do that. I just want to collect this domain value in my pipelines.py.

You can access the spider argument in the pipeline simply as follows: spider.domain. You have to make the argument available as an attribute by adding self.domain = domain in the __init__ of your spider.
