Failed to configure a DataSource

I'm trying to run a Spring boot program with a mysql database. When I try to run the program I get this:

I've tried a few solutions such as editing my pom.xml file and application.program file, but no solution has worked for me yet.

Reason: Failed to determine a suitable driver class


Action:

Consider the following:
    If you want an embedded database (H2, HSQL or Derby), please put it on the classpath.
    If you have database settings to be loaded from a particular profile you may need to activate it (no profiles are currently active).

Base on the log, you have to add to src/main/resources/application.properties: spring.datasource.url=jdbc:mysql:jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/[your_database] spring.datasource.username=[username] spring.datasource.password=[password]
