Compare two soap responses using groovy script

I'm using SoapUI free version.I need to compare soap responses. I have expected response in an Excel file. I want to compare the expected response with the actual response from SoapUI and while comparing I need to ignore some fields using groovy script. I can read the data from Excel into a string and response from SoapUI to another string. I need some help in comparing those two values. I didn't get any proper references to compare. I don't have any code for comparison. Please help me with this

There are three main ways to do it.

1) If you want to compare XML with XML, you can use the XMLUnit lib with Groovy. I found this to be brittle.

2) You can also parse the response XML with Groovy's XMLSlurper, and use the GPath to navigate to specific elements and get their values:

def responseXML = context.expand('${mySoapRequestStep#Response}')
def Envelope = new XmlSlurper().parseText(responseXML)
log.info Envelope.Body.someNode.nodeIWantValueFor

3) The third option is to create a Property Transfer step after your SOAP Request step, and use XPath to store the value in a property. The XPath expression you use in the step is in this format:

//*[local-name()='someNode']/*[local-name()='nodeIWantValueFor']/text()

On the Property Transfer step you specify where the value is saved, e.g. in a testCaseProperty called nodeIWantValueFor.
