Is it possible to put something above listview?

Im trying to put textview above list check view and the output overlaps textview and listview which is not right.

    xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
    xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"

    <TextView
        android:id="@+id/textView"
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"

        android:text="TextView" />

    <LinearLayout
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="match_parent">

        <ListView
            android:id="@+id/checkable_list"
            android:layout_width="match_parent"

Do it like this

<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
