Creating a function that allows me to readRDS files?

I just wanted to create a function which enables me to read a RDS file.. so I have the code below, and I would like for a1 to display the RDS file in Rstudio when I input test(example.RDS)

readRDS(paste0("C:/Users/Jack/Documents/","example.RDS")

works but when I try to turn it into a function, it does not work...

 test <- function (entry) {
        a1 <- readRDS(paste0("C:/Users/Jack/Documents/",entry))
        }

Are you looking for something like this?

saveRDS(diamonds, '~/diamonds.rds')
#> Error in saveRDS(diamonds, "~/diamonds.rds"): object 'diamonds' not found

test <- function(entry) {
  readRDS(paste0("~/", entry))
}

test('diamonds.rds')
#> # A tibble: 53,940 x 10
#>    carat cut       color clarity depth table price     x     y     z
#>    <dbl> <ord>     <ord> <ord>   <dbl> <dbl> <int> <dbl> <dbl> <dbl>
