Trying to start or restart the service don't work as well.

Also, sudo lsof -i :27017 doesn't output anything. How can I solve this?

You need to create a directory where mongodb can store your database and log files. the default is ~/data/db so you could create a folder data and a db folder within it at your root. another option is to create a folder somewhere else on your system where you can easily access it. I store mine in a dev folder, so you would create that folder e.g. ~/dev/mongodb/data/db then when you run mongod, you would run the following:

mongod --dbpath /Users/name/dev/mongodb/data/db

That should work for you. You can find more info: Manage mongod Processes

Another option that is more advanced is to store the information in mongodb.conf file which configures running mongod. There you would enter the following:

storage:
  dbPath: /Users/name/dev/mongodb/data/db
