Disable Site Contents from End Users

I have a SharePoint site which will be shared with external users. I want to ensure the minimum possible features for the external users. One such requirement is for them to not navigate to the site contents. I have created a custom permission and unchecked the View Application Pages. However the users can still navigate to site contents.

I later read about the Limited-access user permission lockdown mode feature also to be enabled for restricting them to navigate to site contents. After doing that they are unable to see site contents as well as navigate to it. Now there is another issue that has aroused because of enabling this feature. The end users are unable to see subfolders. They can only see root folders and when they open it they cannot see anything within. Please note they have access to the subfolder. If the feature is deactivated they can see subfolder. How can i go about with this?

I would recommend you to use sharelink in SharePoint. If you grant permission to users, they will have access to view site contents and navigation to the site even have the least permission.

If you share the file or folder to the users with share link, they will only have the access to the item you shared. Please refer to the document
