Set active layer(s) in a photoshop script (year 2025 .psjs file)

Since the document.activeLayer property no longer exists and has been replaced with a read-only document.activeLayers property, how can you add a layer to the activeLayers?

I can't find a function for this.

Note that all answers you can find online are outdated.
