Grant Access to Sharepoint List is not working - no errors in flow

I'm very familiar with Power Automate but this is my first time trying to give access to a sharepoint list. When an item is created, i want the user to have access to a sharepoint List. I added Grant Access to an item or folder activity, entered the parameters and tested. The flow runs - no errors. The flow shows valid data for each parameter however, the access is not granted to the sharepoint list. I have appropriate access. I can manually add the user using the same credentials. Not sure why the flow is not working. Any help is appreciated.
