I want to create a reusable shape in Visio (Visio 365 Desktop) with certain data attached.
I created a custom Stencil in "My Shapes", right clicked it and selected "Edit Stencil"
I then created my shape. The shape itself is a simple "Box" from Shapes -> General -> Blocks I then right-clicked and selected "Data->Define Shape Data" and added the data fields I wanted I then right-clicked again and selected "Data->Edit Data Graphic" and added the fields I wanted to be displayed inside of the box and aligned the Data Graphic inside the box how I wanted
I then dragged my shape into my custom stencil.
Works great, I drag the shape from my stencil into a drawing and it prompts for the necessary data then displays the data how I want.
But now... I want to add more data fields, and make another master that is a slight variant of this shape without one of the fields I put into it.
So, I right-clicked on my new master and select "Edit Master" to edit the fields. The Master Drawing comes up, as expected.
However, when I right-click my shape and go to "Data" the option "Edit Data Graphic" is now greyed out. "Data Graphic Fields" is also greyed out. I can still go to "Data->Define Shape Data" and edit, add, or delete data associated, but I cannot change the Data Graphic. Even if I delete an existing data field, it's still showing in the data graphic!
How can I edit the data graphic of my master shape without completely deleting it and starting over?

You can drag it out as a shape. Then edit that shape. Then delete the old master, and then create a new master by dragging that updated shape to the stencil.
This may be a feature or a bug, but Microsoft disabled the "Edit Data Graphics" function awhile ago for masters. I don't know why.
