Getting a weird error when trying to import libraries with pip

I use Python through a VScode virtual machine. I tried to install the pandas library for a project, but received an error.

I expected the library to install normally, but received this error message.

pip install pandas
pip : The term 'pip' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check 
the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

Have I not installed pip somehow?

What can I do to fix this?
