Eclipse's Capabilities for Modeling Libraries

I am quiet new to this topic and haven't really grasped the idea of it, I will be working on a project related to Model-driven engineering. Right now I am faced with a question, is it possible to model libraries in one of eclipses packages (be it the Modeling tools package, or some other 3rd party package like Papyrus or Sirius)? Is there a way to use the libraries in modeling? I heard that you could create a DSL and using that maybe create libraries, but I have no clue.

On a different note, what is really the main idea behind model-driven engineering? Like I understand that you create models and from those models you generate code, but in a way you still have to program, because the model functionality is still going to need to be implemented, so called the DSL.

I don't know, maybe I am misunderstanding something. It would be great if you could also provided some example repositories as well, as I learn better from real examples. Any insight in this topic would be appreciated.
