Rails, how to get rid of html tags in my page?

The whole text is begin with <p> and end with </p>. Why? How can I get rid of these html tag? I tried to delete <p></p> in my .rb code. It's not working. I am really new to ROR. please help.

Instead of product.description use simple_format(product.description) to get rid of the html tags.
