React: Pomodoro Clock: How can the countdown proceed?

In this Pomodoro Clock, there is a function countDown(id) that counts down by seconds and coverts the remaining seconds to a MM:SS format on every t-minus. However, it only counts down to 24:59 and then at every succeeding t-minus it stays at 24:59. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's because of this statement here - var intervalFunc = setInterval(() => down(this.state.sessionSeconds - 1), 1000); You're always sending the same value. The sessionSeconds in the state never changes and you're always only subtracting 1 from it each interval.

What you can do it add a sessionSecondsExpired: 0 property to the state to track the expired seconds in the current session. Then, change your countDown function like this to subtract that many seconds from the sessionSeconds:

countDown(id) {
    var intervalFunc = setInterval(() => {
      down(this.state.sessionSeconds - this.state.sessionSecondsExpired);
    }, 1000);
    this.setState({ intervalFunc: intervalFunc });

    // seconds are converted to MM:SS at every t-minus
    const down = (tMinus) => {
      this.setState({
        sessionSecondsExpired: this.state.sessionSecondsExpired + 1
      });
      .....
      .....
      .....
    };
  }

Also don't forget to 'reset' with this.setState({ sessionSecondsExpired: 0 }); in the reset function.

This was a quick one. It may have broken some other functionality, I'm not sure but you get the idea. Here's a sandbox if you want to take a look - https://codesandbox.io/s/great-gould-6zmo7
